Hello Guys,
I have been asking this question to myself ever since I have been granted authorship over here in oppo.
I have travelled the world quite a bit, and I am tolerant to quite a lot of car cultures worldwide. Now, one thing which I rarely read on this site is reviews/conversations of cars from India or southeast asia.
If you were to look at it objectively, most cars sold here are really not the enthusiast's type. However, it is still a very interesting part of the world. Here, the requirements from a car are very different from what most people on this site are used to.
I am contemplating on putting up a review of my current car: a Mahindra. More specifically, a Mahindra Quanto. For the uninitiated, here are a few pics from the official website:
This is currently my primary car. Would anyone be interested in this?
If yes, then would you like me to review in the standard oppo way (like looks, interior etc.) or is it ok if I were to write it in a different way?

Review away. They are always welcome. Be as absurd as you like. Or be as objective as you like. I would keep the scoring system though.

Thanks. My review won't be absurd or objective. I will just be narrating my experience, with some history interspersed into it. I am not a fan of the scoring system on Oppo; but will think about it.

I will try and cover all which is possible. Also, I will be putting up some pics from the official webpage also, since my car doesn't look anything like what is seen in the pics. Mine is a base model with literally nothing. Also, I personally am not a fan of editing pics et all, so my photographs will be what is seen by my mobile. Hope it is fine with all you guys.

Well make your own up. We'll allow it. Perspective about car culture from around the world is always a good thing.

Quirky. That would be more appropriate term to describe it. Just wait till you see the real pics. Will be putting up the review soon. Thanks!

I agree with this sentiment. I had never seen any Indian cars until I went to africa where there are a lot of small Tata trucks similar in general to a Ford Ranger.

I'm always interested to read unbiased reviews of something like that, from someone who's driven enough cars from more established manufacturers to give an informed opinion. These really cheap cars are in many ways a better gauge of how automotive/manufacturing technology is improving than the top-end expensive cars like the S-Class.
No-one's expecting a Mahindra to be a world-beater, given the price-tag, but it's interesting to see how fast things are improving. Ten or twenty years ago any cheap car from a non-mainstream manufacturer was a complete joke, but that's clearly not the case here.

There is nothing new per say in this car. It is just a car.. that's it. However, it is one of the few interesting cars I have come across the world, which has made me fall in love. Mahindra's approach to manufacturing cars is nothing new really. However, they do excel in some areas which are highly relevant in the Indian scenario. You'll see soon enough, why I like this car. I am sure, most 'enthusiasts' will not like it though... and for a good reason as well. This model is a flop over here, and will be phased out soon enough.

It's not really anything new, that's the point. It's what can be done with the stuff that's established enough to be done cheaply, or that can now be done much cheaper than before. At the bottom end of the market you really see the difference a lot more than in the middle.

Well... it is an interesting part of the car market for sure. Anyways, I have composed my review, but when I ask it to publish on oppo, it isn't allowing me to do it. Would you happen to know why?

Someone needs to add you to Oppo in some way or other, I think. If I share your comment, I expect whoever's responsible will do it. If it's not done in a few hours, ask someone else.
